Nepean MPP Tyler Watt says he has written to Health Minister Sylvia Jones after Queensway Carleton Hospital announced workforce reductions tied to financial pressures. Watt’s July 8 statement says QCH announced layoffs of 87 registered nurses, and argues the cuts will affect frontline workers and patient care at a hospital used by many Barrhaven and South Nepean families. The Bugle is treating this as a representative-and-health-care accountability item: the source is Watt’s statement, and no individual staff or patients are named.
